newswipe — Privacy Policy

newswipe has no account system and no analytics. Your reading data lives on your device. The third parties below are only the app stores (purchases), Google AdMob (ads), and the cloud backup you choose to turn on.

Last updated: 15 June 2026.

No account, no analytics

There is no newswipe account — no email, no sign-up, no profile on our servers. We do not run any analytics or tracking SDK in the app, and we do not sell or rent any personal data. We don't operate a backend of our own.

What lives on your device

Your subscribed sources, reading list, listen queue, archive, custom drops, downloaded episodes, and preferences are stored in your device's standard app storage. This data stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app — unless you turn on cloud sync (below).

Fetching news & podcasts

To build your deck, the app fetches content directly from the sources you choose — publisher RSS/Atom feeds, the article pages themselves, and public podcast directories. Those requests go straight from your device to those providers, so their own privacy policies and logs apply (for example, your IP address and request are visible to them, as with any web request). We do not proxy or log this traffic.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the one-time ad-removal are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to verify which purchases you own so the app can unlock the right features; RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user id and your purchase receipt for that purpose.

Ads

Free accounts see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers to show and measure ads, and to limit how often you see the same one. On iOS you'll be asked whether to allow tracking (App Tracking Transparency); if you decline, ads are non-personalized. See Google's policies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Subscribing to Plus, or buying the one-time ad removal, turns ads off entirely.

Cloud sync (optional, Plus)

If you turn on sync, newswipe backs up your reading data to your own Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (iOS) account so it follows you across your devices. It is stored in a private app area of your personal cloud — we have no access to it and it is not sent to us. Turn sync off, or sign out, to stop it.

On Android, connecting Drive uses Google Sign-In: the app receives your Google account email and basic profile solely to authenticate you to your own Drive, and is granted access only to its private app-data folder — not your other files. That email is used on-device for sign-in and is not stored on a server of ours. On iOS, iCloud sync uses your existing device iCloud account and needs no separate sign-in.

Notifications

Alerts are optional and generated on your device — there is no push server. When enabled, the app checks your subscribed sources in the background and raises a local notification for new items. You choose the types in Settings, and can turn them off any time.

Deleting your data

Because most data lives on your device and in your own cloud, you can remove it yourself: clear it in the app (Settings → Reset), turn off sync, and uninstall — that deletes the on-device copy and stops further backup. To have us erase any remaining account or backup data tied to you, use the account & data deletion request on the support page; we action requests within 30 days.

Children

newswipe is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
